Nike’s Vac-Tech construction is back in a big way for 2016, in perhaps its most eye-catching treatment yet: glossy patent leather. Now’s not the most advantageous time for Nike to release their usual array of awesome Oregon Ducks PEs given the struggles of their football team, but that hasn’t stopped the signature green aesthetic from arriving on a couple of general release Air Max models. Last week we showcased the Nike Air Max 1 VT “Ducks”, a retro that featured some new materials for a modernized feel complete with a cool color blocking. Now the Nike Air Max 90 VT joins the mix with a mostly monochromatic Gorge Green upper. The almost adonized upper gets allows for black to hit the lining and heel while a lifestyle gum outsole adds a classy finish. Get with us after the break for a better view for this Air Max 90 and grab your pair via Nikestore. The VT madness has cooled down a bit since its peak point last year, but we’re still seeing models pop up here and there with the vacuum packed looked. This pair that never made is past the sample stage is the latest to show its face, most likely a relic from the first go-round that hit us in 2011. It takes the slightly weathered approach featured in the original run and cranks it up quite a bit, with the velvet brown tones on this Nike Air Max 90 VTgetting an almost rusty look. The Nike Air Max 90 VT will continue as part of Nike Sportswear’s spring 2012 release schedule, but the focus has shifted in recent weeks from the construction that marked the earlier pairs to a concentration of wooly uppers in a variety of knits. And while we got a nice variety of leather and suede VacTech Air Max 90s, the above pictured pair certainly wouldn’t have fallen on deaf ears had they made the cut. These Bright Turquoise AM90 VTs have the same all-over look as many of the other pairs, but this color is just so vibrant that they feel like these would have been in a class by their own.
